Asymmetric top
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000864
A type of rigid rotor molecule in which all three principal moments of inertia are distinct. This molecular geometry leads to complex rotational energy level patterns and spectral transitions. Water (H2O) and formaldehyde (H2CO) are common examples of asymmetric top molecules, exhibiting unique microwave and infrared spectra.
