Auger photoelectron coincidence spectroscopy

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000952

An analytical technique in which an Auger electron and a photoelectron, both originating from the same atom after a single photoionization event, are detected in coincidence. This time-correlated detection confirms that both particles originated from the same quantum process. The method provides detailed information about the electronic structure and decay dynamics of the ionized atom, distinguishing between different Auger decay channels that are otherwise indistinguishable in a conventional Auger spectrum.
