Autoinduction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000985
The process by which a drug or chemical compound increases the activity of the enzymes responsible for its own metabolism. This leads to a faster breakdown of the substance over time, potentially reducing its therapeutic effect. Carbamazepine is a known example of a drug that exhibits autoinduction.
