Autoprotolysis constant
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001000
The equilibrium constant for the autoprotolysis reaction of a solvent, representing the product of the activities of the solvated proton and the conjugate base of the solvent. For water at 25 degrees Celsius, this constant, Kw, is approximately 1.0 x 10^-14. This value indicates the extent of self-ionization of the solvent.
