Protolysis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-009606
A chemical reaction involving the transfer of a proton from one molecule or ion to another. This process typically occurs between a Brønsted acid and a Brønsted base. Autoprotolysis is a specific type of protolysis where a solvent molecule transfers a proton to another identical solvent molecule.
