Bayes’s theorem
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001149
A mathematical formula that describes the probability of an event, based on prior knowledge of conditions that might be related to the event. In computational chemistry and drug design, it is used to update the probability for a hypothesis as more evidence or information becomes available. The theorem states that the posterior probability of a model is proportional to the product of the prior probability and the likelihood.
