Biochemical mechanism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001250
The detailed sequence of molecular events and interactions through which a chemical substance produces a specific effect within a living organism. This includes the binding of the substance to a molecular target, the subsequent signaling cascade, and the ultimate physiological or pathological response. Understanding the biochemical mechanism is a core objective in toxicology and pharmacology for predicting a substance's effects and designing safer chemicals or more effective drugs.
