Functional assay
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004707
An experimental procedure designed to measure the physiological or biochemical effect of a substance on a specific biological target, such as a receptor, enzyme, or cell. Unlike a binding assay that only measures physical association, a functional assay quantifies the response triggered by that interaction, like enzyme activation or a change in cell signaling. The response is measured as a function of the substance's concentration to determine parameters like potency and efficacy.
