Borderline metal ions
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001439
Metal ions that exhibit characteristics intermediate between hard and soft acids according to the Hard and Soft Acids and Bases (HSAB) principle. These ions possess properties that allow them to interact with both hard and soft bases, depending on the specific chemical environment. Examples include Fe2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, and Zn2+.
