Capillary column
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001602
A type of chromatography column characterized by a narrow internal bore where the stationary phase is coated directly onto the inner wall or supported on a layer lining the wall. These columns, used in gas chromatography, are made of fused silica and have internal diameters ranging from 0.1 to 0.53 millimeters. Their open tubular design provides high permeability and efficiency, resulting in superior separation power compared to packed columns.
