Charge population
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001902
The distribution of electric charge among the atoms or functional groups within a molecule or molecular entity. It quantifies the amount of electronic charge associated with specific regions or atoms, providing insight into the polarity and reactivity of a chemical species. This concept is derived from quantum mechanical calculations, such as Mulliken or natural population analysis.
