Chemosis

Edema of the conjunctiva, the transparent membrane lining the eyelids and covering the white part of the eye. This swelling results in a jelly-like appearance of the conjunctiva and can be caused by allergic reactions, infections, or irritation. It is a common sign in ocular toxicology studies.
