Clastogenesis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002105
The process by which a clastogen induces structural damage to chromosomes, resulting in breaks, deletions, inversions, or translocations. This phenomenon can lead to genetic instability, cell cycle arrest, or apoptosis. Clastogenesis is a key mechanism underlying the genotoxic effects of many environmental toxins and therapeutic agents.
