Cytogenetics
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002835
The branch of genetics that studies the structure and function of chromosomes, particularly through microscopic analysis. This field investigates chromosomal abnormalities, such as numerical or structural changes, and their association with genetic disorders, developmental defects, and cancer. Karyotyping is a primary technique used in cytogenetics to visualize and analyze chromosomes.
