Cloaca

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002122

A posterior opening in many vertebrate species, including birds, reptiles, amphibians, and some mammals, that serves as the single exit for the digestive, urinary, and reproductive tracts. This anatomical structure allows for the passage of feces, urine, and gametes. In humans, the cloaca is a transient embryonic structure that eventually divides to form separate urogenital and anal openings.
