Relating to a plane that divides the body or an organ into anterior (front) and posterior (back) portions. This anatomical orientation is frequently used in medical imaging and neuroanatomy to describe the location or extent of structures. In the brain, a coronal section provides a view perpendicular to the long axis of the cerebrum.
