Correlation time
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002605
A measure of the average time a molecule or molecular segment retains its orientation or position before undergoing a substantial change due to rotational or translational diffusion. It characterizes the timescale of molecular motion in a system. In nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, correlation times are derived from relaxation rate measurements.
