Crohn disease
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002705
A chronic inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any part of the gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the anus, but most commonly involves the small intestine and colon. It is characterized by transmural inflammation, meaning it affects all layers of the bowel wall, and can lead to symptoms such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, weight loss, and fatigue. The exact cause is unknown, but it involves a complex interplay of genetic, environmental, and immunological factors.
