Polymyositis

A chronic inflammatory disease that causes muscle weakness, primarily affecting the skeletal muscles on both sides of the body. It is an autoimmune condition where the immune system attacks muscle fibers, leading to inflammation and degeneration. The exact cause is unknown, but it is classified as an idiopathic inflammatory myopathy.
