Cumulative number-distribution function
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002783
A function that gives the proportion, by number of molecules, of a polymer sample whose value of a chosen molecular property, such as molar mass or chain length, does not exceed a given amount. It is found by integrating the number distribution function over that property, and it increases from 0 at the lowest values to 1 at the highest. Its counterpart based on mass instead of molecule count is the cumulative mass distribution function.
