Cytochrome P448

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013011

A specific isoform of cytochrome P450 enzymes, characterized by its absorption maximum at 448 nm when complexed with carbon monoxide in its reduced state. These enzymes are involved in the metabolism of xenobiotics, including certain drugs and environmental pollutants. Cytochrome P448 enzymes are known for their role in activating polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons.
