Distribution constant calibration

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003342

A calibration approach for extraction carried out close to equilibrium, in which the analyte concentration in the sample is calculated from the amount found in the extraction phase together with a previously known distribution constant of that analyte between sample and extraction phase. The constant must hold for the matrix and temperature of the sample, because any error in it carries directly into the result. Equilibrium solid-phase microextraction is one example.
