Electroconvulsive therapy

A medical procedure involving the induction of a brief seizure in the brain by passing small electric currents through the scalp. This treatment is primarily used for severe mental health conditions, such as major depressive disorder, that have not responded to other therapies. It is administered under general anesthesia.
