Eliminator
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003812
A substance that enhances the rate at which a toxicant is removed from an organism. It acts by increasing excretion, for example, by promoting diuresis or by forming a complex with the poison that is more readily cleared from the body. Unlike a functional antagonist, which counteracts the effects of a poison without affecting its concentration, an eliminator directly reduces the toxicant's presence in the body.
