Entanglement network
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003946
A temporary, physical network formed by the topological interconnections and entanglements of long polymer chains in a concentrated solution or melt. These transient junctions restrict chain movement and impart elastic properties to the material over short timescales. Unlike chemical crosslinks, entanglements can disentangle and reform, contributing to the viscoelasticity of polymer fluids.
