Bowtie entanglement
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001456
A specific type of topological entanglement that can occur between polymer chains, characterized by a loop of one chain passing through two loops of another chain. This complex interpenetration contributes to the viscoelastic properties of polymer melts and solutions. It is a more intricate form of entanglement than simple threading.
