Episodic
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004032
Describing an event or condition that occurs occasionally and at irregular or infrequent intervals, rather than continuously or cyclically. In ecotoxicology, this describes exposures to pollutants, such as those from accidental spills, storm runoff, or intermittent industrial discharges, which create transient but potentially high concentrations of contaminants. Such exposures contrast with chronic exposure, where the presence of a substance is constant over a long period.
