Intermittent effect

A toxicological effect that occurs sporadically or with periods of remission, rather than continuously, following exposure to a substance. This pattern of effect can be influenced by the dose, frequency of exposure, or the biological half-life of the toxicant. It contrasts with a persistent or continuous effect.
