Fixed product ion spectrum

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004464

A mass spectrum recorded by selecting one product ion m/z and determining all the precursor ion m/z values that fragment to give it. Its x-axis therefore lists precursors, and the peaks mark every ion in the sample that yields the chosen fragment, as with the m/z 184 phosphocholine fragment used to find phosphatidylcholine lipids. It is the converse of the spectrum from a fixed precursor ion scan, which lists the products of one chosen precursor.
