Flavonolignans
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004482
Natural products built from a flavonoid joined to a C6-C3 lignan precursor such as coniferyl alcohol by oxidative coupling. In the best known members the catechol oxygens of the flavonoid B-ring form a benzodioxane link to the phenylpropanoid unit. Silybin from milk thistle is the standard example, and silymarin is its mixture with related flavonolignans.
