Lignans
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006586
A class of natural products characterized by the dimerization of two phenylpropane units, typically through a beta-beta' carbon-carbon bond. These compounds are found in plants and are formed biosynthetically from coniferyl alcohol or related precursors. Many lignans exhibit biological activity, including antioxidant and anticancer properties.
