Phytoestrogen
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008957
A plant-derived compound that can exert estrogen-like effects in animals, including humans, by binding to estrogen receptors. These compounds are structurally similar to mammalian estrogens and are found in many plant foods, such as soy products and flaxseed. Isoflavones and lignans are common types of phytoestrogens.
