In vitro estrogen activity assay

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005744

A laboratory test performed outside of a living organism to detect and quantify substances that mimic or interfere with estrogenic activity. These assays typically use cell lines engineered to express estrogen receptors and respond to estrogenic compounds by activating a reporter gene. The results provide an indication of a chemical's potential to disrupt endocrine function.
