Lignins
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006587
Complex, amorphous polymers found in the cell walls of plants, providing structural support and rigidity. They are formed from the oxidative polymerization of phenylpropanoid units, primarily coniferyl alcohol, sinapyl alcohol, and p-coumaryl alcohol. Lignins are a major component of wood and are resistant to degradation.
