Alcogel
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000367
A gel in which the pores are filled with an alcohol as the continuous liquid phase. It is formed by replacing the original solvent in a wet gel with an alcohol, or by conducting the gelation process directly in an alcoholic medium. Supercritical drying of an alcogel, typically using liquid carbon dioxide, produces an aerogel.
