Fluorophobic

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004533

Describing the tendency of a substance to repel or be repelled by fluorinated compounds or segments. This property arises from the low polarizability and weak intermolecular forces between non-fluorinated and fluorinated molecules. It is the opposite of fluorophilic and contributes to the phase separation observed in mixtures containing both fluorinated and non-fluorinated components.
