Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004598

A class of organic compounds characterized by the general structure R-N=N-CR'=N-NH-R'', where R, R', and R'' represent organic substituents. These compounds contain a carbon atom double-bonded to one nitrogen and single-bonded to another, with an azo group (-N=N-) and a hydrazone group (-N-NH-) in conjugation. They are known for their intense colors and are used as dyes and analytical reagents.
