Hermaphroditism
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005220
A biological condition characterized by the presence of both male and female reproductive organs or tissues within a single organism. This can manifest as true hermaphroditism, where both ovarian and testicular tissues are present, or as pseudohermaphroditism, where the gonads match one sex but the external genitalia are ambiguous or resemble the opposite sex. The phenomenon is observed across many species, including some fish and plants, and in rare cases, humans.
