Homogeneous photocatalysis

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005369

A catalytic process where light energy drives a chemical reaction, and the photocatalyst is in the same phase as the reactants, typically in solution. The catalyst absorbs photons and then transfers energy or electrons to the reactants to initiate the reaction. Examples include reactions catalyzed by dissolved metal complexes or organic dyes.
