Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005579
An autoimmune disorder characterized by a low platelet count (thrombocytopenia) and purpura, which are purple spots on the skin caused by bleeding under the skin. The body's immune system mistakenly attacks and destroys its own platelets. This condition can be acute or chronic and is diagnosed after ruling out other causes of thrombocytopenia.
