Platelet

A small, anucleated cell fragment derived from megakaryocytes in the bone marrow, circulating in the blood. These cellular components are involved in hemostasis, forming a plug at sites of vascular injury to stop bleeding. A normal human platelet count ranges from 150,000 to 450,000 per microliter of blood.
