Thrombocytopenia

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012035

A medical condition characterized by an abnormally low number of platelets (thrombocytes) in the blood. Platelets are small, colorless cell fragments that form clots and stop or prevent bleeding. A platelet count below 150,000 per microliter of blood is generally considered thrombocytopenia, increasing the risk of bruising and bleeding.
