Iminium compounds
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005607
Organic compounds containing a positively charged nitrogen atom double-bonded to a carbon atom, with two substituents on the nitrogen. These species are electrophilic and are often formed by the protonation or alkylation of imines. They serve as key intermediates in many organic reactions, including the Mannich reaction and Pictet-Spengler cyclization.
