Immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibitory motif

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005703

A conserved amino acid sequence found in the cytoplasmic tails of certain inhibitory immune receptors, such as those on natural killer cells and B lymphocytes. Upon receptor engagement, these motifs become phosphorylated on tyrosine residues, recruiting phosphatases that counteract activating signals. This leads to the suppression of immune cell activation.
