Tyrosine kinase
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013676
An enzyme that catalyzes the transfer of a phosphate group from adenosine triphosphate (ATP) to a tyrosine residue on a protein. This phosphorylation event acts as a molecular switch, regulating many cellular processes such as growth, differentiation, and metabolism. Dysregulation of tyrosine kinase activity is implicated in several diseases, including cancer.
