ABL oncogene

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000039

A proto-oncogene that encodes a non-receptor tyrosine kinase, involved in cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. Chromosomal translocations involving ABL1, such as the Philadelphia chromosome, lead to the formation of fusion proteins with dysregulated kinase activity. This aberrant activity is a hallmark of chronic myelogenous leukemia and some acute lymphoblastic leukemias.
