Chronic myelogenous leukemia
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-002063
A type of cancer affecting the blood and bone marrow, characterized by the uncontrolled growth of myeloid cells. This condition is associated with a specific genetic abnormality, the Philadelphia chromosome, which results from a translocation between chromosomes 9 and 22. The presence of this chromosome leads to the production of a fusion protein that drives the proliferation of cancerous cells.
