Interface core-level shift

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-005934

A change in the binding energy of core-level electrons for atoms located at an interface between two different materials, compared to their bulk counterparts. This shift arises from differences in the local chemical environment, charge transfer, and electronic structure at the interface. It is measured using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and provides insights into interfacial bonding and electronic properties.
