Isotopic labelling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006247
The technique of incorporating a specific isotope, either stable or radioactive, into a molecule or material to act as a tracer. This allows researchers to follow the path of the labeled atoms through chemical reactions, metabolic pathways, or physical processes. The altered mass or radioactivity of the label provides a detectable signal, often measured by mass spectrometry or scintillation counting.
