Exchange labelling
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-004169
A method of introducing a radioactive or stable isotope into a molecule by exchanging an atom or group of atoms with an isotopic counterpart. This process relies on the reversibility of a chemical reaction or an equilibrium. It is often used to prepare labeled compounds for tracer studies or to determine reaction mechanisms.
